Age 81, of DeWitt, MI, passed away December 16, 2016. He was born November 24, 1935, in Clare, MI, to Max and Clara Jehner.

Chalmer worked as a car salesman in high school. After school he started working at MSU in their grounds department. He loved fishing, hunting, and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Carolyn; children, Gregory Jehner of Charlotte, Jeffrey Jehner of Charlotte, and Barry (Denise) Jehner of Kansas; stepchildren, Mark (Susan) Holt of Lansing, John (Eryn) Holt of California, and Michael (Rachel) Holt of New York; 4 grandchildren; 7 stepgrandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; cousin, Nina (Ted) Osborn of Whitehall, MI; and special friends, Justin and Sara and their children, Ellie and Cora. He was preceded in death by his parents and two aunts, Lillian Kilpatrick and Lena Wixon.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, December 19, 2016, at Maple Ridge Cemetery, Holt. Memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Palliative Care or the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel.
