Age 75, of Greenbush, Michigan, passed away December 12, 2016.  He was born April 9, 1941, in Manor, PA, to Edgar and Helen McCracken, who preceded him in death.  Mel was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force, retiring after 23 years.  After the military, he worked in Civil Engineering for over 20 years.  Mel was a member of Huron Baptist Church, and enjoyed Bowling, Horseshoes, gardening and fixing things.

Surviving are:  his wife of 38 years, Mary; 7 children, Tom (Tammi) Bucklin, Nancy (Steve) Lilley, Linda (Tim) Howley, Karen (Greg) Bossie, Corinna (Darien) Miller, Richard (Randy) McCracken, Michael McCracken; 13 grandchildren, Andrew, Aaron, Austin, Alyssa, Sarah, Steven, Kristen, Lindsey, Josh, Alex, Emily, Nicholas, Shelby; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Jaffre; and brothers, Bill (Ruth) McCracken and Al (Lorraine) McCracken.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2016, at Cedar Street Church, 1705 Cedar St., Holt.  A second memorial service will be held in the summer of 2017 at Huron Baptist Church, Oscoda, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Melvin McCracken.  Online condolences may be left for his family at www.EstesLeadley.com.
