David W. Collins

Age 61, of Holt, MI, passed away October 29, 2016, at home with his loving wife, Jan, and friend Jenn Castillo at his side. He was born in Highland Park, MI, to Walter and Vita (Doidge) Collins, the youngest of 5 children. Raised in a rural area he enjoyed horses, the outdoors, and his dogs. At Milford High School he excelled both in sports and studies. He was an avid reader, loved music, sports, especially U of M games, and his cats, Maya, Duchess and Peanut. Dave loved to have a good time with his family and many friends golfing, fishing and traveling.

In his work life he wore many hats finally settling into the business of office furniture installation. Dave enjoyed the challenges of securing and managing many large and small projects. Many thanks to all of his great co-workers, employees, and employers.

Dave is survived by his wife, Jeanette “Jan” Collins; son, Joseph Collins of Brooklyn, NY; sisters, Kathy (Roger) Voorheis, Linda (Mike) Kurzava, Diane Collins, all of Milford, and Marilyn Weidel of Walled Lake; 7 nieces and nephews; stepsons, Joe and Jeff McRae of Holt, and Mark (Lea) Puente of Bentonville, AR; grandsons, Zack, Josh and Gabe Puente; loving mother-in-law, Bernice Hoebecke of St. Johns; and brother-in-law, Archie Hoebecke of Lyons.

Special thanks to Dr. Michael Kowalczyk and staff for years of excellent care, McLaren Hospital and Hospice nurses, and the many doctors that cared for David.

A celebration of David’s life will take place from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at Charlar Place, 4230 Charlar Dr., Holt, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to Ingham County Animal Shelter or McLaren Hospice in memory of David. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel.

Seeing your smile brings back a lot of precious memories for me. Jan and I made a great team as the “girls” from Allied. You will be missed.
