Jo "PePaw" Baxley

Jo “PePaw” Baxley formerly of Lubbock, TX, died peacefully at Hospice House in Lansing, Michigan on June 11, 2016 at the age of 91. She is predeceased by her husband Dial of 31 years, siblings, Jack, JJ, Leo, Goldamaye, and Betty; her niece Judy and sister-in-law, Dimples.

Jo is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Sandra (Woodie) Patterson, Gillette, WY; stepson, Livoul (Virginia) Baxley, Temple, TX; grandchildren, Michael (Misty) Griggs, Perry, MI, Michelle (Fred) Truscello, Lansing, MI, Kari Farrell, Potterville, MI; stepgrandchildren, Gary(Sharon) Baxley, Temple, TX, Barry Baxley, San Marcus, TX, and Christy (Chris) Mayfield, Dallas, TX; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, along with great-nieces and nephews.

Jo was born in Carter County, Oklahoma on March 9, 1925. She graduated from Portales High School, New Mexico in 1943. She went to Draughons Business College. She worked as an office secretary for National Linen Service for 25 years and also worked for Plains Leather Service for many years. She loved working as the Sunday School secretary at Highland Baptist Church for more than 50 years. Jo enjoyed long walks, crossword puzzles, traveling, talking football, telling jokes, yard work, a good cup of hot coffee and most of all spending time with her family.

A luncheon and visitation will take place for immediate family only starting at 11:45am at Highland Baptist Church. Visitation for friends will be from 1-2pm at Highland Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held at Highland Baptist Church, 4316 34th St, Lubbock, TX on June 21st at 2:00p.m., with Pastor Adam Pardue officiating. Burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park, 5740 19th St, Lubbock, TX.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Highland Baptist Church 4316 34th St, Lubbock, TX or Meals on Wheels. Condolences for the family may be offered online at Sanders Funeral Home.

PePaw will be deeply missed and in our hearts forever! We Love you!

Love and prayers to the family. Fondest memories dating back to 1965 when I had my first job and worked with Jo…she was always kind and loving and I’m blessed to have had her as a friend .
