Matthew J. Schindewolf

Dimondale, Michigan

Age 59, passed away, April 9, 2016 in Lansing. He was born September 12, 1956, in Lansing to the late John and Marie (Edmonston) Schindewolf.

Matt is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary Schindewolf; a daughter, Rhiannon (Matthew DeShais) Schindewolf-DeShais; a granddaughter, Kayleigh DeShais; a sister, Connie Schindewolf; a nephew, Patrick (Tracy) Warner; a niece, Mindy (Andrew Cabble) Warner Cabble; the Ott family; lifelong best friend, James Marusich; his chosen brothers and sisters in the Rat Pack; and those friends that became family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother George “Bucky” Schindewolf.

Matt was a Public Service Director working for the City of Brighton and later Infrastructure Alternatives. He was an honorary member of the 82nd Airborne, previously a volunteer fireman and EMT for Holt Fire Dept. Matt was a musician, a biker, a race car driver; and a mentor.

The funeral service for Matt Schindewolf will be 12:00 p.m., Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with Pastor Scott Sage officiating. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bikers for Books, 649 S. Stine Rd., Charlotte, MI 48813.

I went to school and graduated with Matt. He was a “free spirited” individual and easy to talk to. I’m deeply sorry for your loss and pray God will hold you close.
