Age 90, of Holt, MI, passed away at home with his family at his side on Sunday, January 3, 2016. Bob was born October 9, 1923, in Howell, Michigan.

He graduated from Howell High School in 1943 and served in USMC during WWII in the South Pacific Island of Engebi. After the war he studied at Oberlin College and Michigan State University. He was employed as a Quality Control Manager for Diamond Reo Truck Manufacturing, Wohlert Corporation and American Sunroof Corporation.

Bob was an avid golfer, enjoyed physical fitness, and following MSU Football and Hockey. Bob was fortunate to have many loving friends through these interests as well as his church, Holt Kiwanis Club, Marine Corps League and Meals on Wheels. A special thank you to the loving care Bob received at Prestige Way Memory Care and Hospice Advantage.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife Yvonne (Simmons), son Eric and parents Leslie and Beatrice (Dingman). He is survived by a son and many other extended family members.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2016, at the First Presbyterian Church of Holt, 2021 N. Aurelius Rd., Holt. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing. Friends may call at the church beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society or to the Greater Lansing Food Bank. Online condolences may be left for Bob’s family at

    I met Bob during MSU hockey & football many years ago. He was a kind gentleman to all his friends & had a great sense of humor. It was a pleasure knowing through the years, he never had a bad word for anyone. God rest his soul, he will be missed by his many friends. My condolences to your entire family.
