Jake was such a fun guy – I will really miss him. After visiting him and Betty, I always felt better than before, cheered by his many witticisms and one liners and her optimistic spirit. He had great comic timing and was so down to earth.

I haven’t had parents for many years and they were both always very good to me. I felt they knew a lot more about life than I did, and like I would absorb some of that wisdom by listening to them talk.

And when I think about “The Greatest Generation”, I always picture Jake, growing up to deaf parents during the Depression, enlisting in the military, marrying young and happily, building his own business. There aren’t so many like him any more.

I’m glad to have known Jake – may he rest in peace.
