Age 83, went to her eternal home with family around her on June 18, 2015 at the Inn of Freedom Village after a long and valiant battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
She was born on June 21, 1931 in Jackson, MI to Lawrence and Lucille (McCurdy) DeVerna. Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, son Barry, brothers Larry and William DeVerna, and sisters Reverend Mary Ellen Curtis and Jeannie Hutchinson.
Juanita is survived by her husband of 66 years Everett, daughters Mary-jo Iverson (Doug), Lisa Noble (Rick), grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Levi and Mariah Noble, Jeff and Trisha Zylstra, Lilia, Abigail, and Sophie, Bradlee and Lindsey Iverson, Sabrina, Anabelle, and Emeline. She is also survived by a sister, Maxine Kushmaul.
Juanita was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Grand Ledge. Nita had moved throughout Michigan with her husband living in Grass Lake, Adrian, Muskegon, Traverse City and Lansing. She was a multi-talented lady, wonderful cook and homemaker. She loved to entertain and had the gift of hospitality. She was employed as a school bus driver in Muskegon, Pranges (Younker’s) Dept. Store in Traverse City, Coil Maker at Ratel and Foster’s Furniture Store in Grass Lake.
She was a firm believer in family traditions and will be sorely missed. Our heartfelt thanks to all the caregivers at Clare Bridge Inn who lovingly cared for Nita for eighteen months and for Hospice of Holland’s care in these final weeks. All were considered part of our extended family.
