Olive A. "Annie" May

Lansing, Michigan

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Olive Ann “Annie” (Droste) May passed away January 21, 2015, in Haslett, MI. She was born May 19, 1930, in Grosse Pointe, MI, to Clara and Louis Droste. Her mother died 3 days later from childbirth complications and she was then raised by her paternal aunt and uncle, Hildegarde and Frank Droste. She grew up in Lansing and graduated from Resurrection High School in 1948. She then attended Sienna Heights College and married Roger T. May on May 30, 1951.

Annie was preceded in death by her parents and stepparents; brother, George; sister, Shirley; daughter, Tina, in 1968; and her oldest son, Timothy, in November 2014. She is survived by her children: sons Ted (Margaret), Tony (Ann), and Terry May and daughters Terese (Ron) McInnis, Torry Gekle, and Mary May; daughter-in-law, Randi May; 13 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

She was a lifelong member of Resurrection Parish and also worked as a school secretary at St. Therese Catholic School. Over the years she served in many capacities at Resurrection Parish including the Altar Society and various Circles. She had two goals in life; she wanted to raise a large Catholic family and have a cottage on Lake Michigan. She accomplished both to the great joy of her family. Her summers spent in Ludington with her family were the best years of her life.

The Funeral Mass for Annie May and Roger May will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Church of the Resurrection, 1531 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 24th with a Rosary service at 7:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Monsignor Gabriel’s Scholarship Fund through Resurrection Grade School. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.
