Janice R. Wilson

Age 79, of Lansing, MI, formerly of Lupton, MI, passed away January 26, 2015. She was born January 15, 1936, in Lima, Ohio, the daughter of Francis and Marguerite Baumgardner.

Janice was a graduate of Bowling Green State University. She married the late Gordon Wilson in 1959. She went on to teach English for over 35 years at Gardner Middle School. Following retirement, she served as a substitute teacher in the AuSable Lake area, where she lived. She was a former member of Christ United Methodist Church. Janice loved to read, play cards, and spend lots of time with her family and beloved pets. She also had a passion for traveling and enjoyed going across the country in her motor home. She even went to Scotland twice.

She is survived by her children, Lynette (Jerry) Lockard of Lansing and Scott (Laurie) Wilson of Vicksburg; 4 grandchildren, Kristi (Josh), Joe (Stephanie), Aaron (Angela) and Adam; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce (Tom) Blackney; 3 nieces; and many other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gordon; her parents; and in-laws, Alice and Morgan Wilson.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2015, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Interment will follow in Deepdale Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of one’s choice.
