Age 82, of Lansing, MI, passed away December 29, 2014. He was born November 22, 1932, in Mason, MI, the son of Lawrence and Ann Laxton. He was a lifelong Lansing resident. Larry served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 and went on to work for the U.S. Postal Service for 38 years.

Larry married Joyce Gregg and they recently celebrated 60 years of joyful marriage. He enjoyed gardening and making perogi with his daughter. He was the neighbor everyone would enjoy having – he was always there to lend a helping hand. Most of all, he enjoyed his special grandson, Connor, who was truly a blessing in his life.

Larry is survived by his wonderful wife, Joyce Laxton; daughter, Kathie (Robert) Blake; grandson, Connor Blake; and daughter-in-law, Barb Laxton. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Ronald Laxton.

We thank Neil and Sharon Gregg for their support and the ICU Unit at McLaren for their compassionate care. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends and many loved ones.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Joyce, Kathie and Family: Larry was a wonderful neighbor and it was a joy and a blessing to share a driveway with all of you for so many years! For almost 36 years, my memories of 1007 Andrus Ave. are made so much greater by having had all of you just next door. I remember so many evenings in the spring, summer and fall growing up, if I couldn’t find my dad at our house or in our yard, I would find him next door with Larry on the backyard patio talking about life or just sitting with each other enjoying the evening! You are all in the Carrow Family’s thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
