Charles Robert Halsey

Charles Robert HalseyCharles passed away September 16, 2014, in Augusta, GA surrounded by family and friends.  He was formerly of Charlotte, MI.

Charles was a job setter at General Motors and retired after 36 years of service.  Charles was a dedicated Masonic member and was raised in the Kalamo Lodge #327 and held several stations in that lodge until he transferred in 2004 to Mulliken Masonic Lodge #412 where he was a very active member and Past Master. Charles was also an active member and Past Patron of Mulliken Chapter #161, Order of the Eastern Star, which he joined September 10, 1983. Charles served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Charles is survived by his wife, Carole Lee Halsey; stepchildren, Karea Nemetz, Kevin Nemetz, Karon Nemetz, Pam Nierenberger, and Robin Royston; three brothers and one sister; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Charles is also survived by his lifelong friend since grade school, Ron Converse. He also leaves his napping buddy pet Gracie.   Predeceasing Charles were his father and mother, Elmer and Rena Halsey, and wife of 38 years Helen Halsey.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 22, 2014, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Entombment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, Peter M. Wege Guest House, 129 Jefferson Ave. SE, Grand Rapids, MI  49503.
