Gloria R. Martin

Gloria R Martin, 79, went home to her Heavenly Father on Thursday, June 26, 2014 following a courageous battle with cancer. Gloria was born August 11, 1934, in Hastings, MI to Pastor Lawrence and Pauline Bird. She was raised in Woodland, MI before moving to Lansing in 1952.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, first husband and father of her four children Robert G. Lee, stepson Jeff Martin, brother-in-law Theron Martin and sister-in-law Marilyn Kersul. She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years Howard Martin; siblings, Eleanor (Stan) Chase and Lawrence (Jane) Bird Jr.; children, Douglas (Lori) Lee, Deborah Lee, Elizabeth Borrelli and Jane (Robert) Reutter; stepchildren, Brenda (David) Schoolcraft and David Martin; 17 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel with services being held at Lansing South Church of the Nazarene on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., with her pastor, Dr. Larry McKain, officiating, preceded by visitation at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the Sparrow Cancer Center, In Memory of Gloria Martin, 1110 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI 48912.

Growing up in lansing and knowing your whole family was a blessing. Your son Doug has been a close friend still today for over 45 years, You will be missed by everyone and all the lives you touched. You now are in a better place.

We are are very sorry to learn of Gloria’s passing and greive for your loss. We have many Great memories of being with you and your family at the MSU football games sharing good times together. Please know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

We extend our prayers to the entire family. It is with sadness that we will not be able to attend Gloria’s Service. We will, however, continue to reminisce about all the great times and wonderful memories we have shared over the years. We love you all.
