Richard M. "Dick" Howe

  Richard passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2014, after a brief illness at his home surrounded by his wife, all of his children and his grandchildren. He was currently of Charlotte, MI.

Dick is survived by his wife Shirley, children Wendy (James) Abbott, Willis (Anne) Howe, Sherrill Turner, 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters, 1 brother, an aunt with several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Dick served proudly in served in the U. S. Navy as a Corpsman HM3 and was involved in an early space capsule recovery.

Dick was a master welder and retired from General Motors as a maintenance welder.

Hobbies that he enjoyed doing included working on cars (master mechanic), wood working, building model airplanes for his grandchildren as a member of C.A.R.D.S, and was a member of the NRA.

He believed that every girl is pretty, and that it doesn’t cost one red cent to be nice to people.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2014, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Dimondale, MI. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Homeless Angels or the VFW National Home for Children.
