Carol E. Rutledge

Age 77, of Lansing, MI, passed away April 28, 2014.  She was born April 7, 1937, in Lansing, to Leo and Pearl Post.  Carol graduated from Lansing Schools and received Masters Degrees from Michigan State University and Western Michigan University, and was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church.  She loved being a teacher.  She worked for the Lansing School District, first as an early elementary teacher, then as a media specialist, retiring in 1995. Carol and her husband were actively involved in local community theater.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling on cruises and playing the slots with friends at the casino.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and by her parents.  Surviving are:  daughters, Susan Snow and Marnee Rutledge (Samantha Wolf); 4 grandchildren, Holly Wojtowicz, Robbie Snow, Carola Snow and Nicholas “Leo” Snow; great-granddaughter, Talia Rose Perry; sister, Marilyn (Ron) Clark; brothers, Stan (MaryAnn) Post and Rev. Stephen (Mary Ellen) Post; and her beloved pet, Calberry.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 549 E. Mt. Hope Ave., Lansing, with The Rev. James R. Lichtenberger and The Rev. Matthew A. Smith officiating.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.  Memorial contributions may be made to her church or Capital Area Humane Society.

Sue and Marnee: I am sorry to hear about your mom. I remember all the games we used to play and her great sense of humor. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Susan & Marnee: so sorry for your loss…Uncle Bob and Aunt Carol are singing and dancing together again in heaven! My parents wanted me to tell you that you are in their thoughts & prayers…their health isn’t the greatest these days & they aren’t able to make the trip. Love from North Branch….

I am so sorry for the loss of Carol. She was a wonderful, dear person who I will miss very much. I am truly sorry I was unable to attend the funeral services. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time.
