Dorothy Evans Klancnik

Dorothy died peacefully in her sleep on March 24, 2014 in Lansing, MI.  Born in Nokomis, IL on May 21, 1914 to Preston and Tetta (Brakenhoff) Evans, she married Louis Klancnik on September 11, 1940.

Dorothy lived for over 75 years in the Chicago area.  She was active in her church for 50+ years, volunteered at Lutheran General Hospital for 30 years, and was an avid reader with an inquisitive mind.  She was an engaging conversationalist and never met a stranger who couldn’t become a friend.

Loving mother of James, Linda (John Eric) Nydahl, Jane (Douglas) Goodrich and Thomas (Nancy Mathews).  Treasured grandchildren are James, Margaret, Gordon, William, Kimberly and Benjamin and 6 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Louis, her brothers George and William, and sisters Anna Jane and Katherine and 1 great-grandchild.

Funeral services and interment will be held in her home town of Park Ridge, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 260 N. Northwest Hwy, Park Ridge, IL or charity of your choice are appreciated.  As a woman of faith, she aspired to live by the following “Lord, make me a blessing to someone today.” The family thanks the entire staff at Ingham Regional Assisted Living for her care for almost seven years. Arrangements by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.
