Age 86, of Holt, MI,  passed away, November 5, 2013 in East Lansing, Michigan.  He was born April 13, 1927 in Lansing to Clyde and Ella (Corser) Barnhart.

Barney was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy; a nearly 40-year member of Alcoholics Anonymous, an organic gardener for over 60 years, and was devoted to his dogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marguerite Barnhart, son Terry Barnhart, twin brother William Barnhart, and sister Audrey Casler.  He is survived by his children: Gary (Carol) Barnhart of Holt and Debra (Paul) Oliver of Belfast, TN and formerly of Holt; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his former spouse, Marjory Platte of Holt; and daughter-in-law, Connie Barnhart.

The memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society.
