Katherine C. Rosewarne

Katherine was born April 19, 1970 and died September 3, 2013. Katherine was a warrior who bravely endured a lifelong battle with diabetes and challenging mental health, rarely if ever complaining. She made countless efforts to overcome her illness and always had high hopes for the future for herself and her beautiful sons. We will miss her honesty, her sense of humor, her willingness to speak the truth to anyone, and especially her acceptance and inclusion of all people.

Katherine is survived by her two sons, Jordan Sudduth and Luis Borrero; her mother, Anne Rosewarne; her father, Philip Rosewarne and his wife, Elizabeth Schwartz; her sister, Amy Rosewarne; and her brothers, Stephen and Brian Rosewarne, as well as a pack of nieces and nephews who adored her.

A celebration of Katherine’s life will be held at the family’s home on Saturday, September 7, 2013 from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. at 4442 Greenwood Drive in Okemos. Friends are welcome. Please bring happy memories and photographs! Memorial donations may be made to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (www.JDRF.org) and The Menninger Clinic (www.menningerclinic.com). Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.

Sending my caring and prayers to all the family. While I mostly knew Katherine through family and friends, as I reflected on her life the word that came to mind was “courage”. She truly lived a life of courage. She leaves that legacy for all of us in our lives.
Blessing and love to all.

Jeanette

Katherine (but always my Katie), my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. And your family of friends who I sense you also had an impact on. An impact of courage not seen often from someone who endured so many hardships in life. While against many odds, you always seemed to pursue and let people feel you were content. What a way you had with that. Not everyone could hold onto such a nice disposition as you. When it came to going down some tough roads in life, you carried the flag as high or higher than anyone. I admire that.
Love you and miss you,
Uncle George

Anne, while I did not know Katherine, as a mother who adores her children, my heart aches for your loss. Know that many love you and mourn with you. I send prayers to you and your family.

Anne,
As you and your family deal with this loss, please know that there are many of us out here pulling for you all and willing to help in any way we can. You and Katherine have done a tremendous job raising two amazing boys. I’m sure she was reassured that her sons are well loved and cared for and in the hearts and minds of so many people. Positive thoughts are flowing your way, Carol

For many years I have “known” Katherine through Ellie, and her two sons. I would always get an “update” on how they were doing in school, and Katherine’s health status. I was saddened to hear of her passing but please know you and your family played a gigantic part in her life such as it was, and that she is at peace. Thoughts and prayers to sustain you through this difficult time.

Fondly, Rochelle H
