Lowell E. Richard

Age 83, of Lansing, MI, passed away suddenly on August 14, 2013. He was born July 7, 1930, in Lansing, son of the late Paul and Geneva Richard.

Lowell was a dedicated fireman. He retired as a captain from the Lansing Fire Department after 28 years of service. He was a passionate and loyal man in his faith, and to his family and friends. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. Lowell and Louie were one tough team to beat at Euchre! He was involved and was always a comforting presence for his children and grandchildren. He loved attending their sporting events, graduations and birthdays. His infectious laugh will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jerelyn; children, Linda Richard, Ric (Mary) Richard, Terrie Bell and Paul (Rosalyn) Richard; 7 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Interment will follow in East Lawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.

I will never forget how you and Jerry were the first ones to welcome us to Horsehead Lake:) Memories of you being best friends with my Parents was awesome:) And you pulled us skiiing All the time, you made growing up at the lake incredible, with the bonfires and everything, thank you for that:) We loved you and Jerry:) Rest in Peace Lowell~ Love, MaryKay
