Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Deana Irene Moore of Mason, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2013, at the age of 86, at Eaton Community Palliative Care in Charlotte, MI. She was the daughter of Leroy and Jesse (Tripp) Griffin, born November 15, 1926 in Meridian Twp., Ingham Co., MI and lived there as a young child, later moving to Holt and attending schools there. She married Robert Moore on February 1, 1947 in Lansing, MI. They were the parents of 7 children. She was a waitress/barmaid at Charlie’s Barn and Mason Bowling Lanes as well as Midway Tavern in Holt for many years before moving to Hesperia, MI in 1977 and then moving back to Mason after the death of her husband where she spent her remaining years. She was a wonderful cook, did lots of canning, picking vegetables and fruit and making preserves. She also was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Mason for several years. She loved keeping busy and enjoyed her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family members and friends tremendously.

She will be greatly missed but always loved and in our hearts and thoughts. She is survived by her sons, Robert E. (Sandra) Moore of Mason, Stan Moore of Mason, and Ron Moore (fiancée Beth) of Edmonton, KY; daughter, Dorothy Moore; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Wilbert (Vicki) Griffin of Holt; sisters, Ila Kosht of St. Johns, Elma Arnold of Lansing, and Virginia Dunn of Corunna, CA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, William and Donald; daughter, Diana K. Moore; brothers, Harold Griffin, Robert Griffin, Jack Griffin, and Donald Griffin; and sister, Rita (Griffin) Teremi.

A graveside service will be held Friday, August 9, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Holt, MI. Those who wish to do so may make memorial contributions to the Mason Area Historical Society, Eaton Community Palliative Care, 2175 S. Cochran, Charlotte, MI 48813 or any charity of one’s choice in memory of Deana Irene Moore. We wish to thank McLaren Hospital and Eaton Community Palliative Care for their wonderful care and also family and friends for their love and support and their visitations. Mrs. Moore was such a sweet lady. So many of us from the Mason Area Historical Society enjoyed visiting with her and sharing memories at our meetings and events. We will miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you as you mourn the loss of a woman who was so proud of the family she loved so much.
