Thelma M. Rens

Age 85, of Holt, MI, passed away August 4, 2013.  She was born December 16, 1927, in Mt. Pleasant, MI.  Thelma was a charter member of the Holt Baptist Church. She had a passion for helping people and frequently visited shut-ins and knitted mittens and hats for others. She was known as the “cookie lady” by many in the neighborhood. Thelma’s faith in Jesus Christ was evident through her ministries at Forgotten Man Ministries and teaching at the Child Evangelism organization for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Orian and Ruth Crowell and sister Clara Peacock. Surviving are her children, Owen Rens, Nancy Rens, Patti (Bob) Yauck, Joy (Don) Bos; grandchildren, Cory, Christina, Chad, Collin, Connor, Cassie; great-grandchild, Miles; and brother, Daniel “Monty” (Florence) Crowell.

The funeral service will be held at ­­­­12:00 p.m. Friday, August 9, 2013, at Holt Baptist Church with Pastor Fred Froman officiating. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel and Friday 1 hour prior to service time.  Interment will take place at Markham Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lansing City Rescue Mission.
