Born September 18, 1918; died June 1, 2013 in his home. Elmer was born in Pontiac, Michigan and graduated from Michigan State University in 1940.  He joined the US Army 32nd Red Arrow Division in April of 1941 and served in the South Pacific until April of 1946 during World War II.  He reached the rank of Major and received two Bronze Stars.  He spent 40 years in the construction business in the Lansing and Jackson area.  He was married 57 years to Lucille who preceded him some 10 years ago.

Elmer is survived by three sons, Dennis Boyer of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, Gary Boyer of Winnetka, California, Terry Boyer of Holt, Michigan, and two granddaughters, Renee Boyer of Tempe, Arizona and Jill Boyer of Flagstaff, Arizona.

The funeral service will be held at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Lansing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars.

    I worked for Mr. Elmer Boyer in his home, and I learned so much history from him, he was a great person to work for with a very funny personality, he will be missed dearly. My condolences to Dennis and Gary he loved U both so very much your Father was a good man.
