Mary Jane Eshelby

Age 89, of Mason, passed away on May 21, 2013.  Mary was born on December 12, 1923 in Lansing, MI to the late Evert and Cora Smith.  She loved her garden and flowers and always had beautiful flower beds. She was an avid reader who had her own extensive library.  Mary was a member of the 23er’s Club and was a life-time member of Mason First Church of the Nazarene where she taught Sunday School for many years and belonged to their Dare to Care group.

Mary is survived by her children, Janet (Harold) Clay, Gail (Mark) Martin, Lori Bittner and Lanette Eshelby; grandchildren, Tonja Clay, Brent and Kerri Eshelby, Jeremy and Stephanie Martin, Eric and Jessica Emerson; several great-grandchildren; nieces, Nancy Evseff and Amy Jones; and nephew, Charles Oesterle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; son, Phillip; brothers, Chet and Jareld; and sister, Luceil.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013 at Mason First Church of the Nazarene, 415 E. Maple St., Mason, MI with Pastor Gerhard Weigelt officiating.  Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mason, MI.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Church and 1 hour prior to the service on Friday.  Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mary to Mason First Church of the Nazarene or to Eaton Community Palliative Care, 2675 South Cochran, Charlotte, MI 48813.
