Age 85, of Lansing, passed away May 13, 2013. He was born October 14, 1927, in Ovid, MI. Charles grew up in Laingsburg. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII. After moving to Lansing he worked for the City of Lansing for 44 years, retiring in 1989. Following retirement he enjoyed wintering in Florida with his late wife.

He is survived by his children, James Leland, Jane Forbus, John (Rhonda) Leland and Jeffrey Leland; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Eric, John, Jr., and Justin; 12 great-grandchildren and he was awaiting the arrival of his 13th; and 1 great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife Maxine Leland and infant son Joel.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2013, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the March of Dimes.
