Age 82, of Holt, passed away on May 09, 2013.  Joana was born on June 26, 1930 in Ray, MI to the late John and Mildred (Benson) Smith.  She loved crafts, gardening, playing bingo, western movies and Shirley Temple movies.

Joana is survived by her husband, Jerry T. Batten; children, Steven (Diane) Landon, Jim (Kathi) Landon, Ray (Debbie) Landon, Richard (Terri) Landon, Ralph (Penny) Batten, Ron (Teresa) Batten, Rhonda (Jim) Wilson; 17 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Smith; sister-in-law, Sharon Smith; daughter-in-law, Judy Landon; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, 2 sisters and son, John Landon.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel with Rev. Edgar L. Owens officiating.  Interment will follow in Maple Ridge Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the Chapel and 1 hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lansing or Alzheimer’s Association.
