June E. Milks

June Elizabeth (McIntosh) Milks was born August 24, 1925 in Battle Creek, to Robert and Julia McIntosh. She passed away February 12, 2013 at the age of 87, in Lansing, MI. She attended Battle Creek Central High School, where she participated in the French, Chemistry & Tennis Clubs, was a multiple Rotary Scholar award winner, a member of the National Honor Society, class valedictorian, and began a lifelong love of community service. She then attended the University of Michigan, majoring in History and French.

June married the love of her life, Malcolm L. Milks (Mack) in 1946, and moved to Lansing where together they raised their three children. Her volunteer efforts grew to include her work with the Junior League of Lansing, the East Lansing Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, St. Lawrence Hospital Auxiliary, and the American Red Cross. She served for many years on the St. Lawrence Hospital Board of Directors. She was a long-standing member of the Lansing City Club, and of the Lansing Country Club, where she loved to play bridge.

Her love of life and devotion to family has left a legacy that will carry on through everyone she touched. When asked how she was doing, her answer was always . . . “So far so good!”

June is survived by her two sons Malcolm L. (Len) Milks, Jr. of Hawaii, and Norman S. Milks (Susan Mason-Milks) of Seattle, and daughter Marte E. Milks (Daniel Stalzer) of San Francisco; and two granddaughters, Jesse C. Martin and Taylor L. Martin, both of the San Francisco area.

A private family service was held at Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Condolences may be communicated by email (martingeels@aol.com), or mail (PO #2669, San Anselmo, CA 94979). Memorial contributions may be made to the East Lansing Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority or to the University of Michigan Alumni Scholarship Fund, in memory of June E. (McIntosh) Milks.
