Age 78, of Lansing, passed away February 10, 2013 surrounded by family in Lansing.  He was born January 4, 1935 in Caruthersville, MO to Neal and Linnie Dell Thompson.  He served in the U.S. Navy for ten years.  He worked at Fisher Body for 26 years.

Billie Joe loved traveling, reading, fishing, autos, and being with friends and family. Billie Joe was preceded in death by sons Rickey and Mickey; brother, Delbert; and sisters, Oneida and Lavion. He is survived by his loving wife Eva of 48 years; daughter, Shelia (Scott) Parmelee; son, Ken (Lynn) Brown; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special brother/sister-in-law, Glen (Marian) Babb.

The funeral service for Billie Joe will be held Friday, February 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel, 2121 N. Cedar Street, Holt, MI 48842, with the Rev. Carolyn Hastings of Wayside Chapel Ministries officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in East Lawn Memory Gardens in Okemos. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 14th from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Greater Lansing Food Bank or the Wayside Chapel Ministries, 518 N. College Road, Mason, MI 48854.
