Age 62, of Lansing, passed away March 26, 2012. He was born August 26, 1949, in Lansing, the son of Gordon and Patricia Bennett. Ron worked for Telephone Alarm Systems for over 35 years.

He is survived by his sons, Eric (Barbara) Bennett of St. Petersburg, FL and Jack (Danyell) Bennett of Largo, FL; 4 grandchildren, Taylor, Payton, Evan and Faith; his mother, Patricia Croze of Lansing; sister, Gayle (David) Schuiling of Lansing; and nephew, Trevor (Michelle) Leasure. He was preceded in death by his father Gordon Bennett and his stepfather Spencer Croze.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Age 74, of Haslett, passed away March 27, 2012.  She was born December 13, 1937, in East Lansing, a daughter of Bernice and Emily Hause.  Marge was an Avon distributor for over 30 years, and she volunteered with the March of Dimes.  She had been a Boy Scout Den Mother, and was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, HELO Club, and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.  Marge was an avid golfer and bowler.

Surviving are:  her husband of 54 years, Fred; sons, James (Susan Kim) Kane of Lansing and Thomas (Stacy) Kane of Williamston; daughters, Tracey (Frank, III) Frati of Hot Springs Village, AR and Suzzanne (Rick Conner) Kane of Lansing; 7 grandchildren, Frankie IV, Ian, Eric, Harley, Emma, Allison and Ashleigh; brother, Russell (Sherri) Hause of Grand Haven; sisters, Betty (Kenneth) Gearhart of Waverly, IL and Grace (Harry) Thompson of Charlotte; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews, as well as her dog, Daisy Mae.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lois Hause.  Marge’s family wishes to express a special “thank you” to some staff members at Sparrow Hospital, including, Alissa, Jessi, Deb, Shannon, Lynnsilee and Yolanda.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2012, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 955 Alton Rd, East Lansing, with The Rev. Fr. Mark Inglot as celebrant.  The Rite of Committal will follow in the mausoleum at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, where the Rosary will be prayed.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Capital Area Humane Society in memory of Marjorie Kane.

Ann passed away peacefully on March 27, 2012, at the age of 63. She was born July 28, 1948 in South Bend, Indiana and was raised on Long Island, New York. She completed her B.A. and her M.B.A. at Michigan State University and lived most of her life since college in Lansing, Michigan. Ann was employed by the federal and state governments for 31 years and retired from the Michigan Public Service Commission. Since her retirement, she volunteered many hours at the Lansing office of Big Brothers Big Sisters.

She was predeceased by her devoted parents, E. Grace (Delaney) and Louis Radelet, and is survived by a large and dear family including her beloved husband of 37 years, Eric, and her cherished sons, Brian of Raleigh, North Carolina and Jimmy of Washington, D.C. Also surviving are her seven (Radelet) brothers John (Marirose), Joseph (Sharon), Michael (Lisa), Timothy (Jeff), David (Peggy), Steven (Carrie) and Kevin and many nieces and nephews. Ann felt truly blessed to be surrounded by this amazing family who brought her much happiness, support, and joy throughout her life.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Age 90, passed away March 23, 2012 in Florida. She was born March 9, 1922 in Lansing, the daughter of John and Lydia Richmond.

Born November 7, 1973 in Lansing, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at the age of 38. She was of Holt, MI. Elizabeth was a loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt and friend who will missed by many.

Surviving are her husband of 20 years, Justin R. Phillips; their two children, Deirdre (Holden) and Julian along with her parents, one brother, three sisters, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 30, 2012 at the Holt United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Glenn M. Wagner officiating.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions, in Elizabeth’s memory, to the Alzheimer’s Association.  Arrangements by the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather passed away peacefully at his favorite place to be, his cottage on 8-Point Lake, on Saturday, March 24, 2012. He was born February 22, 1937, in Lansing, the son of the late Harold and Helen Bohnet Walter.

Gordon was a financial planner having been inducted into the AXA Equitable Hall of Fame in New York City and real estate investor for over 50 years.  He was the former Treasurer of the Commanders Club and enjoyed their annual meetings on Mackinac Island. He was a major contributor to the MSU Museum, a member of the Sparrow Foundation and a member of the Country Club of Lansing. He was also involved with Woldumar Nature Center, which his father co-founded. Gordon traveled extensively to many countries. His favorite place from all his travels was Jackson Hole, Wyoming and fishing the Snake River.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sandra (Simmons) Walter; children, Tamara (John) Schuster, Candace (the late Garry Sommer) Sommer, Todd (Marcie) Walter and Jennifer (Delco) Rowley; grandchildren, Jessica and Tyler Walter, Brooke and John W. Schuster, and Rachel, D.J., and Israel Rowley; brother, Jim (Helga) Walter; many nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends.

The family is very grateful to his many friends and family members who made it possible for Gordon to remain active until the last days of his life.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2012, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. A private family burial will take place at Deepdale Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Woldumar Nature Center or the Capital Area Humane Society.

Age 86, of Lansing, passed away March 23, 2012. She was born February 1, 1926, in Grand Rapids, MI, the daughter of the late Abraham and Johanna Rusch.

There will be no service.

Age 83, passed away March 24, 2012.  He was born November 5, 1928, in Sidney, OH, a son of Frank and Elsie Owen.  Russ was proud to have served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.  He worked at REO for 25 years, then at GM for 17 years, retiring in 1992.  He was a member of the American Legion, and loved spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and his pets.  Russ also enjoyed dancing and spending time boating at the lake.

Surviving are:  his wife of 59 years, Mary; son, Mike Owen of Lansing; daughter, Shari (Richard) Walicki of Jackson; 6 grandchildren, Kris (Beth) Doerr, Cherraline Doerr, Staccie (Joey) Warren, Troy Miller, Rich (Kate) Walicki, Kristen (Michael) Salata; 10 great grandchildren; brother, Frank (Eileen) Owen of Schersville, IN; 2 sisters, Doris Matrau of Elsie and Rita Decker of Lansing, as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel, with interment to follow in East Lawn Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, and one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society, or the American Cancer Society.  Russ, Dad, Grandpa, Be-Pa-Great, will be forever missed!

John ReurinkAge 70, of Grand Ledge, Michigan, John Henry Reurink died on March 22, 2012, following a valiant fight against pancreatic cancer.

Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on April 11, 1941, John was a retired state government executive.  After retirement, John joined his son, John, at Michigan Information & Research Service (MIRS as co-owner and chairman.

During his long career with state government, John worked in the Budget Office of former Gov. George Romney, as a deputy director of the Michigan Department of Commerce under Govs. William Milliken and James Blanchard, and an associate Superintendent of Public Instruction at the Michigan Department of Education during the administration of Gov. John Engler.

An avid photographer, John loved to travel with his wife, golf and spend time with his children and grandchildren.

John is survived by: daughter, Laurie Mwakanandi and her husband, Cowen; son, John T. Reurink and his wife, Michelle; and daughter, Amanda Robertson. Also surviving John are his sisters, Patricia Hoeksema and her husband, Glenn, and Darlene Timmer and her husband, Rich; and grandchildren, Olivia and John Mwakanandi and LaTesha and Mariah Robertson, many nieces and nephews and great grandson, Da ‘Quanta Robertson.

John was preceded in death last year by his father, John; his mother, Clarissa; and his loving wife, Mary Lou.

Visitation will be held at Estes Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2012, with a service at River Terrace Church, 1509 River Terrace Dr., East Lansing, at 11 a.m. Fri., March 30.    Memorial contributions may be made to River Terrace Church Christian Education or Greater Lansing Food Bank.

Age 79, of East Lansing, passed away on March 22, 2012.  He was born in Lansing on September 22, 1932 the eldest son of Joseph and Frances Maurer.  He was a lifelong member of The Church of the Resurrection; an usher, Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and a graduate of Resurrection High School.   He was a partner in the family business, Maurer’s Sanitary Cleaners.  He was a Past President of the Michigan Institute of Launderers and Dry Cleaners.  Joe was extremely knowledgeable in his profession, having been a mentor and friend to everyone, taking young associates in the dry cleaning business under his wing.  Joe was the recipient of the Mike O’Neil Dry Cleaner Award.

Surviving are:  5 children, Joseph W. (Gail) Maurer, Mike (Barbara) Maurer, John (Deborah) Maurer, Robert (Ruth) Maurer, Ann (Carl) Chaffee; 8 grandchildren, Joe, Daniel (Kelly), Matt, Steve, Caroline, Amanda, Tommy, and Lauren; 7 siblings, Dick (Sonia), Mary Jane (Donald) Knapp, Doug (Nancy), Larry, Tom (Dixie), Bill (Sue), Cris (Dave) Verhougstraete, many nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Daryl Kesler; special cousin, Mary Belen.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean in 2009, sister-in-law Diana Kesler, and special cousin, Gilbert Belen.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Fr. James Eisele at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2012 at The Church of the Resurrection, 1505 E. Michigan Ave. Lansing, with the Rite of Committal at Deepdale Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 2:30-4:30 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m.  Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association or The Church of the Resurrection.
